In Lauren Letellier’s hit solo show THE VILLAGE CIDIOT, a dyed-in-the-wool Manhattanite loses her big corporate job and moves, reluctantly, to a tiny upstate town where her city skills are no match for rural reality. A hilarious and moving journey about navigating life’s disruptions with humor, compassion, and tick repellant.
“The hilarious and the heartbreaking are found in equal measure in THE VILLAGE CIDIOT.”
Lauren Letellier
(Writer & Performer), after a long career in public relations, Lauren is now a writer, performer, small town historian, pickleball player and forever New Yorker at heart. She loves K-Dramas, animals, Jane Austen, and clam chowder (except for the fake Manhattan variety). She is 25% sarcastic, 54% optimistic, and 122% bad at math. The Village Cidiot is her fish-out-of-water story about leaving Manhattan and moving to a tiny upstate town. Her previous solo show, The Fiery Sword of Justice, exposed the hilarious and harrowing similarities between family and corporate dysfunction. Critics called it “bold, funny, wise, and brave” and “big, provocative, and surprising.” 2014 New York International Fringe Festival; 2015 Rochester Fringe Festival (“Fringe Festival Favorite,” Rochester Democrat & Chronicle); Producers Club (NYC); Stage Left Studios (NYC); Stageworks Hudson; Ancram Opera House. She lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and co-town historian Chris Atkins and their furry feline overlord, Rocky. Follow them at hillsdalehistorians.wordpress.com.
